Recently, Hollywood has taken a shine to biopics and documentaries outlining the incredible lives of some of the world’s greatest entertainers. These include projects focused on stars like Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, Marilyn Monroe, and more! Next up on the docket is a docuseries dedicated to Elizabeth Taylor, who became one of the most popular and well-known actresses in Hollywood history, executive produced by a global star in her own right, Kim Kardashian.

Kim Kardashian will executive produce and star in the series

Kim Kardashian is set to executive produce and feature in an upcoming docuseries about actress Elizabeth Taylor, tentatively titled “Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar.” The documentary will be split into three parts and intends to dive into her professional life and how she honed her technique as an actress. Ultimately, it will look at “how she reinvented the nature of fame, even as she smashed the glass ceiling in Hollywood, before going on to become a billion-dollar businesswoman, activist and advocate.”

The docuseries is being produced by Passion Pictures, with Kari Lia and Hamish Fergusson as executive producers alongside Kardashian as well. Fergusson, who is creative director and executive producer at Passion Pictures, explained how “Elizabeth developed and defined our understanding of stardom and celebrity across decades. A unique talent and true luminary, we’re hugely excited to explore her extraordinary life and enduring legacy.”

Additionally, Alistair Pegg, the Commissioning Editor at the BBC, said, “This exciting series promises a new understanding of Elizabeth Taylor – both her technique and power as an actor, and her capacity for reinventing herself.”

It will be loaded with interviews

The docuseries is set to include “privileged access to those who knew her best, including members of Elizabeth Taylor’s family, friends, and colleagues from throughout her stellar career,” including Kim Kardashian herself, who had the last interview with Taylor before she died. Others will include other actresses such as Joan Collins, who notably competed with Taylor for the role of Cleopatra, and Margaret O’Brien, who attended school alongside Taylor in the MGM backlot, as well as other peers like singer-songwriter Carole Bayer Sager and Dr. Anthony Fauci who worked with Taylor in the fight against AIDS.

“Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter,” Kardashian, who will appear in the docuseries, said. “She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life – and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint.”

Kardashian, Fergusson, and Lia intend to use the docuseries to deliver on a lot of promises. One of these is to shine the spotlight on “a superstar who transformed not just Hollywood but fame itself, as she went from child star to highest-paid actress in the world.” In order to do so, it will “draw on never-before-heard audio tapes, interviews, and unseen TV footage, alongside rich archive of her movies.”

“For too long the story of Elizabeth Taylor has been told as a soap opera. The eight marriages, the diamonds, the addictions. This series gives Elizabeth Taylor the significance she richly deserves, in all her incarnations: as an actor, rebel, business mogul, and activist — to reveal how Taylor created the blueprint for modern celebrity,” reads a show description.
