Warning: This article contains discussions of sexual misconduct and assault that may be triggering to some readers.

Kevin Spacey has largely remained out of the public eye in recent years, as he’s been working his way through numerous sexual misconduct suits that have been filed against him. Sitting down with Piers Morgan for his first lengthy interview since winning the majority of these lawsuits, the actor opened up about his experiences, explaining, “I have nothing to hide and I want to live a more open life than the one that I did.”

In 2017, actor Anthony Rapp alleged that a 26-year-old Kevin Spacey sexually assaulted him when he was just 14 years old. The alleged incident occurred in 1986, and Rapp claims the actor physically picked him up “like a groom picks up a bride,” put him down on his bed, and proceeded to climb on top of him to try and initiate sex.

Spacey has continuously denied Rapp’s claims, saying the latter and a friend had merely come to his home to meet his dog. The actor has also publicly stated that the allegations against him put him “in a very, very dark place.”

In 2022, a jury found Spacey not liable in the sexual misconduct civil lawsuit brought forth by Rapp. Reflecting back on it with his interview with Piers Morgan, he said, “I hope that someday Anthony Rapp may accept that he had a faulty memory.”

However, Rapp isn’t the only one to have accused Spacey of such misconduct. In the past, the actor was found not guilty on nine charges for crimes that were allegedly committed against four men between 2004-13. while he was artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre in London, United Kingdom.

The accusations and their fallout have caused Kevin Spacey to lose quite a bit in his life. During the interview, he explained that his home in Baltimore, Maryland has entered into foreclosure and is slated to be auctioned off at a fire sale. He choked up while broaching the topic, telling Piers Morgan,” I’m not quite sure where I’m going to live now.”

He says that, as it stands, he is broke and owes millions in legal fees, going so far as to claim he “can’t pay my bills.”

That’s not all. The House of Cards (2013-18) actor is also expected to provide series producer Media Rights Capital a $1 million judgement (down from $31 million) as the claims forced the company to hasten the ending of the popular show. Those involved say this was a breach of Spacey’s acting and producing agreements and, as such, retribution is expected.

While he sat for the interview, Kevin Spacey’s dealings with the court system aren’t yet finished. In 2025, he’ll face another civil trial in the United Kingdom, this time brought about by a man who alleges the actor sexually assaulted him. The individual, who cannot be named for confidentiality reasons, says that, as a result of the encounter, he’s “suffered psychiatric damage and other financial loss.”

Despite everything that’s come out over the last seven years, Spacey told Piers Morgan, “I’ve come out of all this not bitter, not angry, not resentful.”

When asked about his character flaws, the actor replied, “There were bouts with arrogance. There were bouts with ego… My goal is now to prove that I am a man of good character.”
