The Queen of Pop is back in the spotlight with exciting news for her fans. The iconic singer and actress has recently teased her return to working on her much-anticipated biopic. This announcement has reignited interest in a project that seemed indefinitely paused.

In a recent social media post, Madonna shared a glimpse of her chipping away at the project. The post featured a slideshow where she was seen with a typewriter, making edits to a movie script. One of the notable slides had a line drawn across the title M Untitled, replaced with the new title, Who’s That Girl. “I Need A-lot of Bandz to make this………..OKAY. (Story of my life),” Madonna captioned the post, giving fans a sneak peek.

The new title of the biopic, Who’s That Girl, is a nod to Madonna’s 1987 film and song of the same name, which showcases her ability to merge her music and cinematic endeavors. The script is noted as being “Rewritten by Madonna and ECW,” indicating a collaborative effort to bring this project to fruition.

Madonna’s biopic journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster. Nearly a year and a half ago, the project was paused indefinitely, leaving fans and industry insiders in suspense. The film, initially set to be produced by Universal Pictures, was reported in January 2023 to have been scrapped.

Madonna was slated to direct the film, which would chronicle her extraordinary life and career. The script, initially penned by Madonna in collaboration with Diablo Cody and Erin Cressida Wilson, promised a deep dive into the pop star’s journey from obscurity to global stardom. Julia Garner, handpicked by Madonna, was set to star in the biopic after impressing in a rigorous singing and dancing boot camp. Despite the setbacks, Garner remains attached to the project, now officially titled Who’s That Girl.

The biopic’s progress was further hampered when Madonna suffered a “serious bacterial infection” in June 2023. This health scare undoubtedly delayed any immediate plans to resume the project. However, the recent updates and Madonna’s evident enthusiasm signal a promising revival for the biopic.

Now, fans eagerly await news on further developments of Who’s That Girl.
