Celebrating the birth of Michael Keaton

Today, September 5th, marks the birthday of Michael Keaton, one of Hollywood’s most versatile and celebrated actors. Born in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, in 1951, Keaton has made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry with his memorable performances and unique style.

Michael Keaton began his acting career in television, with early roles in shows like Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and Mary. His transition to film came with a series of roles that showcased his comedic timing and dramatic depth. However, it was his role as the mischievous ghost Beetlejuice in Tim Burton’s 1988 film that truly put him on the map. This iconic performance was followed by his portrayal of Batman in Burton’s Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), roles that cemented his place as a major Hollywood star.

Keaton’s career continued to flourish with a range of diverse roles. His performance in Birdman (2014), where he played a washed-up actor trying to revive his career, earned him critical acclaim and several awards, including a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Beyond film, Keaton has also made a name for himself in television and voice acting, lending his voice to characters in animated films like Cars (2006) and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017).
