Jon Bon Jovi is being praised for how he handled an unexpected and potentially tragic situation while filming a music video in Nashville, Tennessee. In a video shared to social media by the Metro Nashville Police Department, the 62-year-old musician is seen helping an unidentified woman at what can arguably be described as the lowest moment of her life and, ultimately, saving her.
Bon Jovi was in Nashville for the filming of the video for his single, “The People’s House.” At around 6:00 PM, while production was taking place on the John Seigenthaler Bridge, he noticed a woman had climbed over the structure’s fencing. She appeared to be preparing to jump into the water below, which is when the musician jumped into action.
After approaching the woman, Bon Jovi was able to talk her out of making the likely fatal leap. He then, with the help of a bystander, helped her back over the fence to safety.
Both the Metro Nashville Police Department and the Nashville Fire Department responded to the scene, with Police Chief John Drake praising Bon Jovi for his quick thinking and care in handling the situation. “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” he wrote on social media.

Video of the incident was initially uploaded to YouTube, but was removed for violating the platform’s community guidelines. The Metro Nashville Police Department subsequently re-uploaded it to Facebook, with the caption reading:
“Another shoutout to Jon Bon Jovi and his #Nashville act of kindness since #Youtube removed the video. ICYMI: He and his team helped persuade a woman [here] to come off the ledge of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, over the Cumberland River, to safety.”
Bon Jovi has experience when it comes to handling mental health issues, thanks to he and his wife’s organization, the JBJ Soul Foundation. Established in 2006, it’s geared toward helping those in crisis find their footing.
The JBJ Soul Foundation’s website reads, “It is the organization’s goal to recognize and maximize the human potential in those affected by hunger, poverty and homelessness by offering assistance in establishing programs that provide food and affordable housing while supporting social services and job training programs.”

Several media outlets have approached Bon Jovi for comment, but he’s declined, citing the woman’s privacy.
