Paget Brewster is embracing her natural beauty as she ages. At 55, she is candidly sharing her journey of aging without the help of cosmetic procedures to maintain a youthful appearance, as is so often expected of women working in Hollywood. Her posts on social media have sparked a larger conversation among fans, fostering a welcoming community of understanding and support.
From Friends to Criminal Minds
Paget Brewster’s acting career has been a steady climb, leading her to iconic roles that solidified her place in television history. She’s most recognized for playing Special Agent Emily Prentiss on the long-running crime drama Criminal Minds. Brewster joined the show in its second season, and her character quickly became a fan favorite, known for her intelligence, strength, and dry wit. Her presence on the show was so strong that she was brought back multiple times, even after leaving the series, proving just how beloved her character remains.
Beyond her role in Criminal Minds, Brewster also had a memorable guest appearance on Friends as Kathy, the love interest of both Joey and Chandler. Although her time on Friends was short-lived, she brought a level of charm and relatability to the character that fans still remember fondly today. These roles, among many others, have made Brewster a household name, but it’s her recent embrace of aging that has people talking.
She’s embracing aging
In a refreshing break from Hollywood’s typical obsession with youth, Brewster has recently opened up about her relationship with aging. On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Brewster shared a heartfelt post about how she’s learning to accept getting older. In her post, she included a casual gray-toned selfie with her hair pulled back, offering a glimpse into her more natural self.
“I’m discovering it’s okay I’m getting older naturally,” she wrote. “That’s a tough choice in Hollywood.” She went on to reflect on her life with gratitude, writing, “I’m just glad I’m alive and have friends and family. I love the films & actors I love. I saw a Batman at a party and he was OLDER, but I was smitten and excited just the same.” The post resonated deeply with fans, who responded with love and support.
One fan complimented her, saying, “My [girlfriend] says you look like a sexy witch.” Brewster playfully responded, “All I ever wanted was to be a sexy witch. It’s my bone structure. I thank you.” Another fan shared their own journey with aging, saying, “When I am able to shut out society’s opinion on women getting older, I actually like the way I look better. My gray hair, the smile lines in my face. We are beautiful, and don’t you forget it.” Brewster’s response? “Babe, you are where we all want to be. I salute and hug you.”
She has felt the temptation
Despite her strong stance on aging naturally, Brewster has admitted that she’s not immune to the pressures of maintaining a youthful appearance. In previous social media posts, she’s opened up about how she’s been tempted to alter her looks with cosmetic enhancements. “I’m pretty happy about how I look without cosmetic surgery, but I also get tempted to ‘be prettier.’ Lip injections, Botox, but IDK if I could really do it,” she wrote. “I kinda like my face. And I fear neck surgery. Maybe I want your support. I love you guys.”
While many celebrities choose to undergo cosmetic procedures to preserve their youthful appearance, and despite her temptation, Brewster has made an active decision to avoid such interventions. She’s been candid about the challenges of growing older, especially in the public eye, but is firm in her belief that cosmetic surgery isn’t the right choice for her. “It’s hard getting older and not doing injections or surgery, but I choose that,” she wrote in a previous post. “I’m older. I’m still hard-working, inquisitive, and sexy. Very sexy.”
