On October 25, 1881, one of the most famous and influential artists in history was born—Pablo Picasso. Born in Málaga, Spain, Picasso would go on to change the art world forever with his innovative and daring approach to painting, sculpture, and more. Known for co-founding Cubism and constantly reinventing his style, Picasso’s impact on modern art is unmatched.

Picasso came from an artistic family. His father, José Ruiz Blasco, was a painter and art teacher who introduced him to drawing and painting at a very young age. As a young boy, Picasso was receiving formal art lessons, with his talent clear from early on. At just 13 years old, he had his first exhibition. These early years laid the foundation for his future as one of the greatest artists the world has ever seen.

Throughout his life, Picasso constantly challenged the status quo. He was a co-creator of Cubism, an artistic movement that broke objects into geometric shapes, showing them from multiple angles at once. This completely changed the way people looked at art. Beyond Cubism, Picasso explored different styles, from Surrealism to Abstract Art, always staying ahead of his time.
